Mikhail Ju. Moshkov

Since 2003 Mikhail Moshkov is an extraordinary professor in the Institute of Computer Science, University of Silesia, Sosnowiec, Poland. Earlier he was with Nizhny Novgorod State University, Russia: in 2001-2004 as full professor of Software Department, Faculty of Computing Mathematics and Cybernetics, in 1990-2001 as head of Discrete Mathematics Department, Research Institute for Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics. He received his M.Sc. (1977) from Nizhny Novgorod State University, Russia, Ph.D. (1983) from Saratov State University, Russia, and D.Sc. (1999) from Moscow State University, Russia. In 2003 the Ministry of Higher Education of Russia granted him the title of Professor. He has received State scientific stipend in mathematics (2000-2003) awarded by Presidium of Russian Academy of Sciences. His research interests include such areas of mathematics and theoretical computer science as test theory, rough set theory, decision tree theory and their mathematical applications to combinatorial optimization, fault diagnosis, pattern recognition, analysis of acyclic program complexity, data mining, machine learning, computational geometry, analysis of Bayesian networks. He has published 3 research monographs and over 100 journal and conference papers. He has directed more than 15 funded research projects. He is a member of the editorial boards of Fundamenta Informaticae (IOS Press) and LNCS Transactions on Rough Sets (Springer). He served as a program, organizing or steering committee member in over 20 conferences, workshops and schools.
